KEVIN ALLWOOD, Top Canadian Fashion Designer — born in Jamaica

Kevin Allwood, a devout Buddhist, has always incorporated his great sense of style into

every aspect of his life. After finishing as an honor roll student in Toronto he pursued a

degree in computer hardware engineering at University of Ottawa, Canada, only to end

up following his heart’s desire; fashion design.

In 1987 he started his design company, NEVIK, this at a time when designers were

considered a non profession by the mainstream. He opened his first kiosk in the

Byward Street market in Ottawa, Ontario. In 1990 after a quick rise in Ottawa, the

NEVIK label moved to Montreal opening in the trendy Plateau Mont Royal area and

later moving to the more upscale Laurier Street. A few years later, he then opened

three boutiques, one on the trendy St. Laurent Blvd, the second was downtown in Cours

Mont-Royal as well as the upscale Ogilvy Store. Now 20 years later, Kevin Allwood is

considered top of his trade. In 2006 he moved to three larger locations in the high-end

fashion and tourist district of Old Montreal.

NEVIK is a nationally recognized brand and Kevin Allwood has dressed numerous

celebrities and athletes, from the OSCARS to the Olympics. NEVIK has won awards for

its excellence in design and business, and also sponsored male athletes from the

Canadian Olympic team, Athens 2004. The NEVIK collection consists of a men’s line,

women’s line, and a bridal collection all between the ages of 18 to 60.

Now in 2009, after 22 years, Kevin Allwood has created the Kevin Allwood Group to

bring his fashion business to the global market. Although, there are several

sub-brands, the products however share a common feature of the Kevin

Allwood touch and style, such as the fit and finish of each piece, the exquisite

materials and the exceptional attention to detail.

KEVIN ALLWOOD GROUP, along with his fashion brands also houses three (2) other

companies and one non-profit organization;

BUDDHAFISH MUSIC is an independent record label for which Kevin Allwood is the

owner and producer. In 2009, Buddhafish Music will launch singer Ashley King with her

debut album entitled “Waiting for the Future”. Also in studio this year, is Anna Liani, an

up and coming Italian-English singer, to be launched by Buddhafish Music in 2010.

KA MAGAZINE is a luxury quarterly publication, distributed WorldWide - With the innitiave to help promote

artists and innovative companies on a Global Level. Self-published and distributed, this Canadian Magazine has

seen astounding results from it’s first issue, Summer 2009.

MY HEAVEN FOUNDATION is a non-profit organization established in 2004, which

provides micro financing to help under privileged women in Jamaica send their children

to school and also, start their own small businesses. This Foundation plans on growing

to help families across the Caribbean.
